Sans Rival
For my birthday, I’d asked for a Sans Rival cake, which is a Filipino delicacy of French origin. It’s basically a dacquoise, with layers of cashews, meringue, and buttercream frosting. Tasty, but not easy to cut into.
Sans Rival means “without rival.” There was no leftover cake from my party, even though it did take forever to cut and serve.
That sounds AMAZING. And very hard to make… I’m tempted, though.
I’m thinking at least as hard as macarons. I think I like them both so much because Sans Rival is pretty much the cake form of a macaron.
